When playing blackjack the highest total wins unless it exceeds 21. If your hand exceeds 21 then you are bust or out. The card rankings for blackjack are cards 2 to 10 are worth the card value jacks queens and kings are all worth 10. An ace is worth 11 unless using it as an 11 would make your hand bust, if so it can be worth 1.
The aim of the game is to beat the dealer by having a higher hand than them which doesn’t exceed 21 (bust). The dealer will always win if the player and the dealer both have hands that go bust. If yours and the dealers hand are the same this is known as a push which means you will receive your original bet back.
Bets in blackjack vary from casino to casino online they can range from 1£$ up to 2000£$ per hand. In online blackjack each player is dealt a card on which your initial bet is placed. The dealer’s first card is always shown face up so that you can see what he has. After players have made there bets you receive your second card you then have the choice to stick (keep the hand) twist (receive another card) split (if both cards are the same you can split them and make 2 hands) or double (increase initial bet). The dealer will then deal his other cards.
A two-card hand of 21 (an ace plus a ten-value card) is called a blackjack it will always win (unless the dealer has blackjack as well, in which case the hand is a push). If you have a blackjack it is usually paid 3:2. Where as all other wins are double your money. Most casinos have a limit at which the dealer has to stick usually 16, 17 or 18 (check before playing)
